I'm wondering if anyone with experience with the Multitech MT5634ZBA-DID modems can give any suggestions? RedHat 9 server with all patches and updated from the Fedora Legacy project. Equinox SuperSerial multi-serial card with this modem. Phone lines setup I think properly. I can run minicom and set it up how the line is provisioned and see the incoming call and CID:1234 come across. I've got Hylafax 4.2.0 installed. I run faxaddmodem and have tried telling it's a 1 1.0 2 2.0 2.1 type of modem and get the same results on all of them. I call with a fax machine or fax modem, it rings a few times, messages in /var/log/messages indicate an incoming call and show the DID info, sounds like it negotiates, some time elapses, fails. I have this in /etc/inittab: mo0:12345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty ttyQ1a5 I see this in /var/log/messages: Nov 3 08:41:15 mail FaxGetty[8800]: ANSWER: CID NUMBER "3210" NAME "" Nov 3 08:41:23 mail FaxGetty[8800]: ANSWER: FAX CONNECTION DEVICE '/dev/ttyQ1a5' Nov 3 08:42:10 mail FaxGetty[8800]: MODEM LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-DID SERIAL DATA/FAX/DID MODEM VERSION 1.28C LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZBA-DID Serial Data/Fax/DID Modem Version 1.28c/ After answering questions in faxaddmodem I go to /var/spool/hylafax/etc and edit config.ttyQ1a5. The last three lines mention settings desirable for this particular modem and they're commented out. I uncomment them, restart faxgetty on that tty, send a test fax. If I look in /var/spool/hylafax/config I don't see a file named such that it's specifically a config for this model modem. Some generic references to things having to do with it in some of the files but no obvious file setup specifically for it. What am I missing here? This looks like it should really be fairly easy and straight-forward. I've had great success in the past with a USR standard analog modem and have had that in production for over a year. Unless I'm looking in all the wrong places, specific technical info on setting up this modem with DID seems a bit scarce. Pointers?
