No, I don't think that is the problem.
I'm able to send mail if write a valid mail address as sender and receiver.

Hi!
Perhaps you have problem with you SMTP server (relay or restrictions???). 
You can test yours server thru telnet like:


telnet hostname 25

EHLO <hostname> 
MAIL FROM: faxmasters@email
RCPT TO: user2@externaldomain 
DATA 
Subject: test data 

Test message 
. 
quit

You'll can see error messages

I installed Hylafax on a suse 9.1
And it works fine, but when I receive a fax I wan't to send a mail to an
extern mail address like me@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
But when I do that, the mail gets stopped at the gateway because my sender
is fax@xxxxxxxxxx and it not a valid email.
The question is how do is change the sender(from addr) of the notification
mail ?
