It just became "rc1" within the last week, and I know that we're due at 
least to see one other release candidate (rc2) before it becomes final.

I don't know how long that is going to take... a few weeks, perhaps?  
maybe less?  maybe more?

That said, I believe that current CVS is production-worthy.  So if 
you're having a problem pulling CVS and need someone to send you a 
tarball or an RPM or an SRPM, then just ask and ye shall receive.
