After looking through the bug report I changed the line to read /\*/.

This stops the error from mawk, however it then still does not detect the card.  Removing the && $4 ~ "/\*/" condition and the card is properly detected.  Some how that regular _expression_ isn't working for this card.  I've since sent the modem off for repair.  Once it comes back I can look into it.

Does anyone else out there have a MT5634ZPX-PCI-U that is being detected properly?
