Hi,

you cannot kill or stop faxgetty like other programs.
you need to go to change your file /etc/inittab.
Open this with an editor and comment out the lines with the faxgetty entry.
Save the file and enter on command-line:
kill -HUP 1
This will restart inittab.
If you ready with your tests go the same way to reactivate faxgetty.
