Using --nodeps will work okay, until something needs the dep package. Also, if you use apt4rpm, it will complain about broken dependencies and refuse to install anything else. If anyone needs it, I have an rpm for RH9 of metamail here: http://arnolds.dhs.org/static/files/ I'm in the process of getting some rpms added to the Fedora archive (including this one) so hopefully they'll be available to apt-get and other tools soon.
