Which undoubtedly caused the ltmodem.o kernel module (modem driver) to 
unload, and because you're not referring to the actual device, and 
because the RPM probably did not configure /etc/modules.conf properly 
for ltmodem (or it configured it for use with /dev/ttyLT0), the kernel 
will not reload automatically.

You'll need to 'modprobe ltmodem' before initing faxgetty.  I recommend 
you read the actual source-code READMEs for the Lucent linmodem 
driver... or get a real modem.
