Hi, Thanks for the input. Since I already had a Class 2 configuration in /etc all ready to go, it was easy to try it again in Class 2. It does yield a little more information, but if it's not enough, I'll gladly try Class 1. The sender at the Panasonic fax machine tries again, unsuccessfully, resulting in the following log, where it appears hylafax receives 79 bad consecutive lines, issuses a RTN, upon which the sending fax hangs up!.
