Basically hylafax needs a postscript file to send.  i think it can also deal with tiff files but not sure.    that postscript file you created, have you still got it?   do this:

 

1.  test file with word, not excel.  excel will cause you more problems.  i tell my users they can't fax from excel and why would they want to anyway.

2.  same as before.  print to file. 

3.  sendfax -n -d 3333333 /tmp/testfile.ps (NOT pdf, postscript).

3.  ps2pdf /tmp/testfile.ps and then view it back on windows acrobat reader.  ths is before you even send the fax.  do you see correct chinese characters?

 

next question?  i've never tried this Web Hylafax gateway myself.  never heard of it.  i use Cypheus for administration of the fax server and my users print though a samba printer share on the fax server which recognises the 'Fax Nr: ' in the word file.  that works quite well for me.  

 

also be aware that you can pay for commercial support if you like from www.ifax.com as well.  they're very helpful.

I send chinese fax succeed via your way at windows platform with print to file(HP LaserJet 5P/5MP PostScript be installed). and my use the following method:

   1,Create a test file with excel at windows platform.

   2,Print test file to postscript file.

   3,Use "ps2pdf /tmp/testfile" at fax server. 

   3,Use "sendfax -n -d 3333333 /tmp/testfile.pdf" at fax server.

   then it send succeed,and fax text display normal ,but it isn't normal display chinese date on the page header . I 'm not understand it .help me!

  I download a be called "Web Hylafax gateway 1.0" web fax tools from www.hylafax.org  ,and I send a few faxs with Web Hylafax gateway 1.0 attach a contain chinese character file.

  I send it succeed . but When  received this fax ,the attach file contents is abnormity to display chinese characters.

  Why ?
