Finally fixed it. after much browsing of the archives came across a post by John Williams which got me pointed in the right direction. http://www.hylafax.org/archive/1999-08/msg00228.php regards Matthew -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Western,R&D Aust Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 11:32 AM To: hylafax-users@hylafax.org Subject: Outgoing page not complete? (Was The best Postscript printer driver for sambafax) Heya all, been doing a little more playing and i think i've found the cause of the problem. if i'm right hylafax -> hylafax goes like this. 1. sendfax. (sender) the issue is that the sending hylafax dones't seem to send a full page. it only seems to sends the part of the page that has text/pics/etc on it and when it reaches the blank space of the page it stops the job. 2. faxrcvd (receiever) i think the faxrcvd is ok, but i have done a lot of mucking around with the parameters of the tiff2ps and the ps2pdf has anybody tried this arrangement with two hylafax servers? or has anybody noticed some incoming faxes are not complete pages and seems like the sending fax sent a half page? hmm. i might have a play with watermarks. perhaps i can create a tiny little invisible water mark down the bottom right of each page that the eye can't see but will cause it to send a full page. :) it's all good fun eh? greets to all the developers of hylafax, you guys have done a pretty darn good package here. easy to setup, easy to understand. very well done. :) keep it up. regards Matt -----Original Message----- From: mwestern@sola.com.au [mailto:mwestern@sola.com.au] Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 8:57 AM To: hylafax-users@hylafax.org Subject: Re: [hylafax-users] The best Postscript printer driver for sambaf ax I think your right. I just did a fax to a real fax machine and it came out fine. perhaps that's normal for hylafax faxing to not send an entire A4 page, but just the part with something on it? the problem seems to be when hylafax converts it back to PDF as specified in my FaxDispatch file. hmm. i wonder where the script is that creates the .pdf file from a fax. and if it's originally stored as a tiff and then converts to pdf it's the tiff -> pdf routine that is a little confused? thanks for the feedback people. regards Matthew -----Original Message----- From: Andrea Cascio [mailto:andrea@nucleus.it] Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 4:21 AM To: mwestern@sola.com.au Subject: Re: [hylafax-users] The best Postscript printer driver for sambafax On Thursday 29 May 2003 09:53, you wrote: > Hi All, > I have a perfectly working fax server. windows client -> samba -> cups > -> sambafax. the faxno detection works a treat. > > I'm doing some testing and i've tried the following PS drivers and all seem > to have the same problem. > > Latest Adobe PS Driver > HP 4/4M PS > HP 4P/MP4 PS > Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS > Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS > Xerox Copier PS driver (another one i have on the system already). I'm using the LaserWriter 16/600 PS too and not having one single trouble... mmm... your problem seems more about page size/border size than about the driver. Have tried changing the settings for the hylafax printer to use a slightly longer/shorter page? Does it have any effect?
