Thanks for the help guys!

Too bad, just won't fly.   To hylafax every incoming call is a fax call 
no matter what I do.
Even though I do have:

VgettyArgs:    "ttyS4"

and PATHVGETTY='/usr/sbin/vgetty'  in  setup.cache  and this file exists.

The log I was referring to is:  /var/spool/fax/log
