Faxgetty uses the config.[device] file and ServerTracing would be the appropriate option. In the manual page for hylafax-config you will find a list of values that can be combined (added) to give you the level of verbosity that you want. I've never had to troubleshoot a problem of that nature before, but in your case it may give you some crucial information.
