Running this command from the console returns eventually without issuing
any messages.

Running 'time bin/faxrcvd "recvq/fax00013.tif" "ttyS1" "00000013" "" ""
""' reports

    real 6m36.023s
    user 0m0.047s
    sys 0m0.025s

At the end of this period, the notification e-mail gets sent.

There *is* an entry placed in /var/log/messages, like

Mar 3 07:23:59 penguin named[922]: lame server resolving
'penguin.net' (in 'penguin.net'?): 207.32.89.10#53

where 'penguin' is the name of the local machine. As a separate issue,
I'll want to find out why faxrcvd is assuming a '.net' TLD and trying to
do a DNS lookup. But as that was happening even with the other modem,
and it happens at the *beginning* of the 6 minute time period, it
doesn't seem to be related to the problem at hand. I mention it for the
sake of completeness, in case it offers a clue.

Thanks,

Bruce Halco
