[hylafax-users] help with redhat 7.3 faxaddmodem/etc
I upgraded my 4.1.3 FREEBSD install to 4.1.5 and now faxaddmodem didn't
work. I'm pressed for time, so I figured I'd just connect it to another box
on site. the problem with this one is that probemodem and faxaddmodem can't
see the modem but cu can. I'd be happy if anyone could help me get either
working.
modem:
creative labs modem blaster
ATI3 RESULT = "OK" RESPONSE = "COMDSP-1809 Ver0.3"
ATI4 RESULT = "OK" RESPONSE = "Modem Blaster V90 DE5625"
old box
FREEBSD 4.6 on an AMD Duron 800
hylafax 4.1.5 (was 4.1.3)
faxaddmodem says "hmm. is your modem hung?" in the middle, but continues
okay.
when i call faxmodem cuaa0, it doesn't say anything, but it doesn't add it
to the scheduler (faxstat doesn't show it).
faxquit throws an error saying that the FIFO.cuaa0 isn't ready or something
like that.
new box:
Redhat 7.3 on an AMD Duron 800
hylafax 4.1.5
cu -l ttyS0 works fine. I can send at commands to dial/etc.
When I run faxaddmodem ttyS0 or probemodem ttyS0 I get this:
Probing for best speed to talk to modem: 38400 19200 9600 4800 2400 1200
Unable to deduce DTE-DCE speed; check that you are using the
correct device and/or that your modem is setup properly. If
all else fails, try the -s option to lock the speed.
any clues?
if I take it back to my old machine (freebsd) and run probemodem i get:
