I am running Redhat 8.0 on a Pentium III machine. My modem is a USR Sportster VI on ttyS3. I verified the modem connection as follows. linux# kermit C-Kermit 6.0.192, 6 Sep 96, for Linux ... I then installed and configured hylafax 4.1.5. faxaddmodem could not talk to the modem. I tried rebooting to rule out interference from kermit, and ran the following. ... [root@localhost images]# /usr/sbin/probemodem -s 19200 Serial port that modem is connected to []? ttyS3 ... Using user-specified 19200 to talk to modem. There was no response from the modem. Perhaps the modem ...
