Hi! I have a probelm with the initialisation but before you go to the standard answer please let me explain my setup :-)) I have instead of a fax machine an electronic box which stores incomming faxes. This box is connected on one end to the "fax/phone" line and on the other to the modem, the modem is connected to the PC as ttyS1 (I am useing SuSE Linux 8.1). Now, if a fax is stored in the electronic box I can either send it to a printer (which is also connected to the box) or via the modem to the PC. When I send the stored fax to the PC it simulates a ring and (would) send the fax with 9600 after an OK. I have done this for years with mgetty but now I wanted to move to hylafax and have to work around this little problem: When a fax is stored in the box the modem line is cut of! No signal comming from the PC will be answered. Only a Ring simulation can be send from the box. But since hylafax first wants to initialise the modem I am stuck a that point. Is there a way to block the init and let hylafax go straight to the "ready" status and let it answer my RING? Thanks a lot for the patience reading through my mail, hope the explaination is not too wild... :-) Michael Here is a part of my log: Nov 18 21:49:03 tamboti init: Re-reading inittab Nov 18 21:49:03 tamboti FaxGetty[3379]: OPEN /dev/ttyS1 HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.1.3 Nov 18 21:49:11 tamboti FaxGetty[3379]: /dev/ttyS1: Can not initialize modem.
