[hylafax-users] HylaFAX and a FAXbox ...
Hello HylaFAX experts,
I have a problem with an external faxbox which recieves faxes while my PC is
powered of.
Here is the problem: a fax comes in, the PC is powered off and so it is
stored in my external faxbox. Sometime later I boot the PC and want to
recieve the stored fax with HylaFAX from the PC. Therefore the faxbox has a
function "RingSimulation" which does what it says it simulates the ring.
Unfortunately HylaFAX is not responding on the Ring. When I boot the PC and a
fax is stored in the faxbox there is no connection from the PC to the modem -
the box sits in between and bocks the connection. So HylaFAX stays in the
status: Initializing server. The first thing the PC gets is the simulated
ring and this is the log about it:
Boot the computer and have the external faxbox sitting there holding a
saved fax . Box blocks the connection.

I stopped here since it seems as if this did not the job. The problem seems
to be that the faxbox completely blocks the comunication to the modem when it
hold a fax. Setting the box to transparent deletes the saved fax. So my only
change is to recieve the fax (resp. send via "RingSimulation") out of the box
*before* the HylaFax ever had a chance to build up a connection...
Does anyone know what I have to do that this works?
Thanks and have nice day
Michael
