Both, the new 4.1-1 source rpm and before the rc2-tarball compiled without any problems here. (I have successfully compiled the 'hylafax-4.1-1rh7.src.rpm' under RH 6.2 and 7.1. I have only compiled the 4.1rc2-tarball under RH 7.1.) May be you do not have installed some necessary GNU (development) tools.
