Could you try to:
1) set 
SessionTracing: 0xFFF
in config.<devid>
then retsrat faxgetty, send fax and look at the /var/spool/fax/log/cXXXXX for
clues.

2) try sending a simple text page
sendfax -n -d 929292 /etc/hosts
