[hylafax-users] user problems after upgrading

After upgrading from a perfectly working 4.1beta3 to the new-brand 4.1rc
hylafax doesn't send any fax saying:

   dada@debian:~$ faxstat
   Login failed: 530 User dada access denied.

And in syslog I find:

HylaFAX[381]: Unable to open the user access file /etc/hosts.hfaxd: Permission denied
HylaFAX[381]: HylaFAX LOGIN REFUSED (user denied) FROM debian [127.0.0.1], dada

What's wrong with it and what shall I do?
