Wow, we haven't seen you around in a while. <wave> I *suspect* you have to tell GS that the paper size for the PDF should be legal; problem is, I'm not sure how you tell what the tiff is; I *think* one of those programs in the tifftools will tell you a line count... this is off the top of my head; hope it's enough hint.
