I have exactly the same problem with a USR 56K fax external and HP officejet receiver.
(RH 6.2 and hylafax 4.1b2)
This does not occur if I change the modem for a 56k message modem of the same make... (no change to the config files, only the modem)... Strange things are happening  huh ?

Hi all,

I just got this hylafax project dumped on my lap so I'm still learning. We
have a problem with 2 customers. When we transmit a fax they receive the
page 3 times at 5 min intervals. What it looks like is the pages is
transmited & the receiving fax machine (HP) does not ack the receive. So
Hylafax thinks it did not successfuly send it. It retransmits with the same
results until the max trans is reached.
