[hylafax-users] Sendpage Paging problems

All:

Forgive me if this post is too long, I wanted to ensure each step was
correct....

The fax has been working nicely for a few days. Since I can't leave well
enough alone, I want to try paging.

So,

read all paging related man pages	(check)
search the mail list (yep)
try, try, try again (si)
dork with it until I pull my hair out (oui)

now I post :-)

I modified setup.cache for
HFAXD_SNPP_SERVER='yes'

and restarted the daemon
/etc/rc.d/init.d/hylafax stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/hylafax start

a quick netstat -vatn showed port 444 nice-n-happy.

I setup a simple etc/pagemap file

tony	281631xxxx

and did
/usr/local/bin/pagesend -q -n -p tony 5551212

And what do I get? An e-mail saying

Your pager job to tony could not be completed before the appointed deadline.

    ---- Unsent job status ----

   Destination: tony
         JobID: 59
       GroupID: 59
        Sender: root
      Mailaddr: root@faxer.fna.com
        CommID: 00000082
Submitted From: localhost.localdomain
        Status: Can not setup modem
Dialogs: 0 (exchanges with remote device)
Dials: 0 (consecutive failed calls to destination)
Calls: 0 (total phone calls placed)

---- Unsent pages submitted for transmission ----

       PIN tony

So, test sending a fax - perhaps I hosed something. Nope - faxes just fine.

So....

I look at c00000082 in etc/log and see:
[root@faxer log]# cat *82

I look at my server trace and see:

I look in etc/info to see if maybe I can set something up in the 1281631xxxx
file like FAQ 502 & 506 say, but there is not a new file in etc/info.

And no page to me.

Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? The modem never even clicks, so
it can't be my pager service (yet). Modem is USR 28.8, and works nicely for
class 1 faxes (I could prove it with my logs, but this post is long enough
already!)

Thanks in advance.

-Tony
