I have no file called hyla.config, i do have a file just called 'config' and
one called 'config.cuaa0'.

they are both in /var/spool/fax/etc/

Below are the files in path in the man page

man sendfax, go to the "CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS" section, there you
find where your config file are placed.

then edit /your_path/hyla.conf  and add something like
KillTime:    "now +24 hours"
