   Are you trying to use GoldMine contacts with WHFC, or just go right 
from Word to a faxX?

   I've seen something similar with Maxmizer -- something about 
specifying a fax program via the Windows registry.  Never really got 
it to work properly.  On the other hand, WHFC allows ODBC phonebooks. 
If GoldMine (its been a long time since I've used it) allows it 
contacts list to be accessed via an ODBC driver (Maximizer allows 
this) you can manage it that way.
