Hi,
No, it's not 5 seconds from dialing, it's 5 seconds AFTER the phone is
answered.
The modem knows whether the line is ringing, or has been answered, and
at that point, it starts listening for "noise".. the remote fax machine
starting it's tones, or silence.. ( of a data modem?? )...
