Hello,
my experiences with hylafax and RH6.2 shows that:

with hylafax-4.1beta1-1rh6.i386.rpm you have to downgrade libtiff to 3.4.

OR

hylafax-4.1beta2-5rh6.i386.rpm you need to upgrade to libtiff3.5.5

regarding second question,
I used whfc windows client.

also you may try:  telnet ip 4559 to see if hylafax server is working
