It's not dumb; if it's what I think it is, it's *very* esoteric.

Check the '#!' line at the top of the shell script.  Betcha anything
it points to a command interpreter you ain't got.  I worked on Unix
for 10 *years* before this bit me, and another 2 before I figured it
out, if it's any consolation.
