I've been watching this thread for a couple days now and I have a suggestion. There is a very easy way to find out what is happening. Get yourself an inexpensive DTMF decoder that will connect to the phone line your are dialing out on. Try to recreate the problem and see if the modem is actually dialing the wrong number. This is the only way to tell for sure. I've done extensive troubleshooting on telco circuits for this exact problem (not with hylafax though) and I have come across both problems- modem dialing incorrect number, AND telco botching it up. The only REAL test will be to get a DTMF decoder on the line when the modem dials and see what it is dialing. However, the problem happened after 3 minutes of inactivity (no calls in the previous 3 minutes). >Some examples from the real life without hylafax : The problem is that it happens on a site, an our customer, where we switched from: unix + vsi-fax to linux + hylafax They say this problem started with this change. The phone line and company are the same, so it's difficult for us to convince them that the phone company/equipment may have some responsabilities.
