At 11:01 AM 5/31/2000 Benjamin Sher sez: >Dear friends: > >Is it possible to send or receive a fax while still keeping your dial-up >or ADSL modem on? Or do you have to turn the modem off to use the fax >and vice-versa? In spite of what the provider's lingo may be, ADSL is connected using a router that is a terminal adapter and is not a modem. It is not part of the voice spectra. Your fax modem uses the voice part of the spectrum. So, unless you are using the analog portion in say, a voice call, it is available for use to your modem without interference with the ADSL traffic. Your fax modem needs a filter, just as any other telephone set would need too.
