I've run with 2 modems with no trouble.  

Note that Hylafax will prefer one modem over the other.  So unless ttyS0
is busy, ttyS2 won't be used.  Try locking the one modem with a terminal 
emulator program like 'kermit', and see if the 2nd isn't used...
