flexfax: Waiting for modem tom come ready...

I am browsing the mailing list archive to try and find an
answer for this - I have tried running faxgetty and hfaxd.


perhaps one major problem
I have in tracking down the exact cause is that my logs are
not running -  the only messages I get are in /var/log/messages
- which are not related to the modem commands I see in others log
examples. 

any direction would be helpful - Thanks

I'm using FreeBSD 3.4
