flexfax: faxstat question

Why wouldn't the fax phone number appear in the output of faxstat -s below.
All I get is () instead of (+1.999.xxx.xxxx)

HylaFAX scheduler on ns1.pad.com: Running
Modem ttyS2 (): Running and idle
