In case anyone else can help, FAQ Q22 is now Q102.

1) Setting CONFIG_OPENFIFO to O_RDWR worked when I built hylafax-v4.0pl2
on a Slackware 3.5 system ( see msg posted 03-Dec-99 ). Slack 3.5 uses
kernel 2.0.34 and gcc version egcs-2.90.29 (aka gcc 2.8).

2) But it didn't stop faxq maxing out cpu when hylafax-4.1beta2 was built
on Slackware 4.0 (kernel 2.2.6, gcc 2.7.2.3). 

I found that replacing the faxq binary created in 2) by that created in 1)
solved the problem. Clearly this is a heinous kludge. If you want,I'll
mail you the binary.
