Depends on what the cause is.   If the problem is broken fax machines, there
might be a workaround, but there can't be a fix, except one made to the
fax machine.

Could you please specify in exactly what way Hylafax is violating the
protocol or in exactly what way the remote machines are violating the
protocol, and how to distinguish between a broken machine and one
that is faulty, and how to recover from a broken machine, as, without
a response to more pages same document, it is not possible to send
the next page, or know whether the previous one got through.

Note that errors with MPS can be the result of failing to configure
flow control properly.
