If the "split device" trick refers to using /dev/cua? for _anything_,
then likely not: /dev/cua has been deprecated since the 2.0 kernel
release, and may well not work at all in 2.2, I haven't checked.
If you're using /dev/cua? for _anything_ at all... please, go change it
now. It will make your life _much_ easier...
