You have more serious problems than the default Hylafax configuration
expecting an answer in a reasonable time.

Once you have fixed your mail program, read the configuration man page.
I'd also check the rules for automatic dialing and answering in your
country, as you may well find that you are required to abort or answer
rather sooner than ten rings.
