For several weeks, Hylafax has been running just fine on my laptop. Yesterday, I installed KDE 1.1.1, and StarOffice quit working. Someone on the KDE list suggested I reinstall StarOffice. StarOffice wouldn't reinstall, because it wanted glibc 2.0.7, and I had previously upgraded to glibc 2.1.1. Making a gross rookie error, I proceeded to uninstall glibc 2.1.2, planning to reinstall 2.0.7. Everything died as soon as I did this, and then I saw the fine print in the RedHat book saying that Linux couldn't run without this library. I then booted off of the RH 5.2 CD, and told it to upgrade my system. It identified that I needed glibc, and installed the original 2.0.7/ glibc. The system booted ok, and I was then able to install reinstall StarOffice just fine. Thinking I had gotten off fairly easily from this blunder, I have since discoveered that RH glint doesn't run and Hylafax is dead.
