Without running faxgetty, you will always get the "Waiting for modem to come ready" message unless an actual fax is sent. Most people on the list would recoment using faxgetty. >From this, we can't really see why things aren't working. What is the result of "ps -ax | grep fax"? It looks like you're running hfaxd from inetd. Again, I think most people would recomend running it as a standalone if you are going to be using HylaFAX frequently. Also, HylaFAX does log information to syslog. Bump up the ServerTracing: value in the etc/config and see what comes out in your logs. a.
