Funny - I noticed the problems with the gcc-2.8.x.patch when trying to answer 
"Lalena, Peter" <LALENPE@mail.northgrum.com>'s request for advice in applying it.

Robert put a new patch up there a few hours ago - it should apply cleanly now. Apologies for the confusion!
