I've done this in the past, under several versions of Linux (including
my home setup!)

How can we coordinate a time to log in and potentially to grant root
access for reconfigurations? I'd like to recommend the use of ssh,
available from ftp://replay.com/pub/crypto/redhat/i386/ for RedHat
Linux versions.  Also, I'd like to very strongly recommend the upgrade
to 5.2: there are a lot of little security patches in that which may
help other issues.
