Hello fax friends, I have just switched my server from mgetty to hylafax. The fax part is really neat; no more problems sending and receiving etc etc. Now I also wanted to enable data call-in; I had not done it before with mgetty either. And I run into problems because the login process does not complete. I spent 2 nights tracing and trying... now my hope lies in the members of this list. Here is what I have : linux 2.0.33 hylafax 4.0pl1 getty_ps (I believe it is 2.0.7h) Modem is US robotics sportster flash. When the modem is called with a data call, I get Feb 5 23:13:37 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: --> [4:RING] Feb 5 23:13:47 insegni last message repeated 2 times Feb 5 23:13:58 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: ANSWER: DATA CONNECTION Feb 5 23:13:58 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: GETTY: START "/sbin/getty -h ttyS1 DT19 200 screen", pid 12498 Feb 5 23:14:59 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: GETTY: exit status 0 Feb 5 23:14:59 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: DELAY 2600 ms Feb 5 23:15:02 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: <-- [17:ATE0V1Q0X4S0=0H0\r] Feb 5 23:15:02 insegni FaxGetty[12489]: --> [2:OK] etc. The screen on the other computer shows weird characters. I tested the getty arguments standalone (entry in inittab) and then it works, so I assume it is not getty itself but rather the communication between getty and faxgetty. How can I get more information on what is going on between these too? Any hints appreciated, jc --------------------------------------------- information Systems Jakob Curdes Norderstrasse 4 D-26123 Oldenburg Phone xx49-441-84531 Fax xx49-441-8859580 E-Mail: jc@info-systems.com ---------------------------------------------
