Ooops, only because I pasted it from my mailfax.sh-sendmail script.
The point I was trying to make was that it's easy to make mistakes
if you manually edit the sendmail.cf file...

Quite right. You must get used to using the m4 macro file instead.

Certainly not. But I will send you directly my mc file to show you
that its 10 lines will generate 1000 lines of sendmail.cf - and you
will see the MAILER(fax) line which accurately does all the changes
you have been struggling with.

Well, its simpler than you think. Any client that can send email to the
server can use the email to fax gateway. All that is necessary is the
correct format of the 'To' address, exactly as you have been testing.
You do not need an sendmail alias account, altho' they can be convenient.
There is an example in the faxmail man page.

Unfortunately so; I have submitted a patch to Matthias, and the html
documentation has been revised as well for v4.0pl2.
