flexfax: Unspecified Transmit Phase B error

I am having problems with HylaFax on a freebsd machine.  As you can
see below it connects, but quits pretty quickly.  

I have tried to 2 "good" fax machines.  The modem handles data ok,
i.e. I can dial an ISP.  The fax  modem is also OK under Windows 95.


The modem config file is at the end, but here is the head of that file:
