Yes, in the html docs, the chapter "Advanced Server Configuration", and
there's a whole section about it entitled "Modems that Lie about their
Capabilities".
Also there, in the Modems chapter, is a full page on the ZyXEL 1496, which
altho' a bit dated, recommends this modem *if* the firmware revision is
v6.13 or later.
Unfortunately I cannot see anything specific about your 'error after
issuing the MPS command' in the docs.
