Your initial negotiation seems to be failing midway (what's that? a
Control-T from the remote fax?), and you appear to be losing
characters. Have you got your modem running as a Class 2 modem (which
I'd suggest)

Ooh. Very messy. You're getting non-ASCII during the negotiation
phase. What's your handshaking set up as? [rtscts is your friend]
