-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- After mastering SunOS installations, I decided to install Linux on my home machine. It's RedHat 4.1, and I've installed HylaFAX v4.0pl1. The compiler is gcc-2.7.2.1: the modem is a USR Sportster 33.6 V.34 internal. I cannot access the modem *at all* with anything, such as kermit, HylaFAX, dip, or other utilities. Kermit will open the line on /dev/cua0 but I see no responses whatsoever. Under the Win95 system, it is COM2, but the *only* line that will even let me connect is /dev/cua0, not /dev/cua[123]. Does anyone know what the problem is? Linux hardware and system subtleties are new to me, and all my MIT friends are out of town. Nico Garcia Engineer, CIRL Mass.
