Carrier Detect problems on Send (SOLVED)

OOPS sorry it was something obvious!!!  I took the modem from a PC running
windows and forgot to check it's default profile. Sure enough &C0 was
set.  Changed the default profile to have &C1 and &D3 set and things are fine.
