The mgetty ...
Hi,
I saw several topics on the list regarding the use of mgetty as
faxgetty DATA frontend, but as far as I could trace, nobody said
it works, everybody thinks it should work. I think there is no getty
'-h' alternative in mgetty and this causes all the trouble.
I too tried to get faxgetty start mgetty when a DATA call comes in,
but up until now, no luck.
Is there somebody with a working combination of faxgetty spawning mgetty ?
What are the GettyArgs ?
I use Hylafax 4.0pl1 and mgetty 1.1.0 (linux 2.0.27)
I want to use mgetty because it automatically detects PPP connections and
can start my pppd without going through the login process (AutoPPP).
(BTW: running the same mgetty on a separte port works fine, I only get these
type of errors when FaxGetty is starting mgetty)
Mar 8 12:00:09 asterix FaxGetty[2265]: ANSWER: DATA CONNECTION
Mar 8 12:00:09 asterix FaxGetty[2265]: GETTY: START "/usr/local/sbin/mgetty -r modemtor1", pid 2307
Mar 8 12:00:10 asterix mgetty[2307]: TIOCMBIS failed: I/O error
Mar 8 12:00:10 asterix mgetty[2307]: cannot turn off soft carrier: I/O error
Mar 8 12:00:10 asterix mgetty[2307]: tcgetattr failed: I/O error
Mar 8 12:00:10 asterix mgetty[2307]: cannot get TIO: I/O error
after a short time, the line drops and it is all over :-(
TIA
Alex
