-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Kim, simply put: you're doing something wrong. Faxgetty should be started in the Linux equivalent of /etc/ttytab (called /etc/inittab, I believe?). That way, if it gets killed off, it will be restarted properly on the fly. Also: the PPP dial-out should be putting the modem into data mode. For example, whenever dialing out, I always use "AT&F" to set the modem into factory default mode so I know exactly what I'm working with, then add any extra registers I need to set. A lot of software and weird init strings rely on the modem being in a particular state based on being the only software to use it. HylaFAX doesn't have this problem, but other software (such as the init-strings in your PPP configurations) often do. Nico Garcia Engineer, CIRL Mass.
